-- Content with Nothing --
John Herlihy
I hold myself quietly when I fall in repose,
Still fully awake, I do not succumb to doze.
A mind suddenly at rest, not busy as a bee,
Not roaming thru all the corridors of misery.
Not worrying, plotting, not fearing or seeking,
Not laughing as a silly child and not weeping.
A mind that finally finds itself safely at home,
As if at the end of day, with no need to roam.
At first whispers, then silence there in my head,
Empty of rash thinking, vain desire, simply fled.
All my birds set free in the light of moonbeams,
No flickering shadows in the light of my dreams.
No mind, head. heart competing for something,
Simply me, alone by myself, content with nothing.
