-- Living the Mystery --
John Herlihy
The secret came upon him suddenly,
How to face the world and its mystery.
Great mystery surrounds us as wind blew,
To make visible all the things we never knew.
Everything we see simply raises questions,
Rising or setting, the sun makes suggestions.
Invisible by day, visible to the eye by night,
Stars seem within reach as tiny pins of light.
The seasons come and go with distinctive flair;
Winter frost, summer breath, we simply stare.
Our breath stolen by the beauty of the snail,
That goes at its own pace and yet will prevail.
No understanding, no guessing, no mystery solved;
No coming to grips with it, no questions resolved.
The secret lies in learning how to live with mystery;
The unknown will then reveal itself for each to see.
