MEASURE IN THE BALANCE

______________________________________

JOHN HERLIHY

The fragile bud becomes the delicate bloom,

The absolute silence will fill an empty room.

The endless day turns to the darksome night,

The evil of wrong versus the goodness of right.

Delicate balance found in the proper measure,

All equilibrium in life is considered a treasure.

Why then do we at times find ourselves wrong,

Sour notes can intrude when we sing our song.

Patience has place, but can also run its course,

There are limits to waiting that lead to remorse.

All have suffered the imbalance in love’s bliss,

When the lover departs, the love is all we miss.

The question arises of life’s perennial mystery,

To gnaw at our hearts with little relief that be.

Ah, how simpler to know what we are all about,

Our peace takes leave when we want to shout.

Where is the balance in battling the unknown?

What equal measure will make things known?

Life a challenge to find that delicate balance,

Through all ups and downs an intimate dance.

The hole in the ground lies waiting to be filled,

Our little foibles and errors are but milk spilled.

A drop in the ocean does not an ocean make,

But too few drops will make the ocean a lake.

A VERY WELL DONE WORK AND I GET IT, BUT, WE ARE ALL HUMAN. SOME BAD AND VERY BAD. SOME GOOD AND VERY GOOD. SOME, WELL...SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN. AND ALL I CAN SAY IS; THANK GOD FOR HIS MERCY AND GRACE! THESE TWO PRICELESS GIFTS 'BALANCES' EVERYTHING. THANKS FOR SHARING, JOHN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Some people thrive on chaos, or the lack of balance. Me? Balance is something I struggle for each minute of every day. As a bipolar, my life's pendulum rocks even more than it does for other people, and it can be argued that for people like me balance is even more essential to our ability to function normally in society. For me it is the shining ideal, always sought but found only with the briefest of touches.

As your words express, the many opposites and paradoxes that we are confronted with every day are what our sentient abilities were made for. Yet, so many ignore such gifts. Yes, the delicate balance is available for all. We just have to stay conscious to recognize its everpresent vibration.

A lot of truisms about the way things are. It seems like everywhere things are conspiring against us moving forward. But there are little tricks, like educating ourselves, persevering and tackling new challenges that move us from despair to loving the ride.
