-- Moods of Love --

John Herlihy

Her love was mellow,

As if it were still love.

Her love was hard,

As if no longer love.

Her love was fierce,

As if it would live forever.

Her love was mild,

As if it would survive never.

Her love was loud,

As if it couldn’t be heard.

Her love was quiet,

As if it didn’t need to be heard.

Her love was open,

As if so much to say.

Her love was closed,

As if living on what was unsaid.

Her love was false,

As if it could be true .

Her love was true ,

As if it could never be false.

Her love was imperfect,

As if this is what it is not.

Her love was perfect,

As if this is what it is.

Her love was fresh,

As if at the dawn of the day.

Her love was stale,

As if at the dusk of day.

No now in her love,

As if it were never there.

Only now in her love,

As if it were always there.

THE POWER OF LOVE, THAT IS...TRUE LOVE, IS ALWAYS THERE ALIVE IN US. AND IT REALLY IS FAR BETTER TO HAVE EXPERIENCED IT, WHATEVER THE OUTCOME, THEN NEVER TO HAVE EXPERIENCED IT AT ALL. FOR, INDEED, GOOD OR BAD...IT 'VISITS', FROM TIME TO TIME, WITH 'MOODS' THAT KEEP US COMPANY. ENJOYED THIS, THANKS. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Your poem proclaims the posit of ancients. Love just is. Far too many associate it only with objector person. But... to read your poem and its paradoxical associations.... yes,... love needs not object, either of flesh or material. The world needs to wake up to the idea that love... just is , or isn't.

Ah! How dynamic is this thing we call love! Were it not so I doubt you could actually call it love.
