-- Beauty in Vulnerability --
John Herlihy
There is beauty in your vulnerability
That stirs my love;
Just as there is a truth in your mystery
That feels like love.
You confess your fears of not being enough
That feels like uncertainty;
I confess that your gifts are far too much
To convey a sense of certainty.
You worry that you may not be the women
That I thought I knew;
While I worry that I may not be the man
That you thought you knew.
Whenever you bear witness to your insecurity
I endeavor to give you relief;
Whenever I convey to you a sense of security
May I add to your self-belief.
Fear not that you betray the woman you are;
I reach for you as I reach among the stars.
While the stars reach down from a distance far
And like the stars, we cannot be but who we are.
