-- The Color of Rain --

John Herlihy

The blue sky is not always blue;

The sky often shines the color of rain.

Those bone-gray pillow clouds gather anew,

Hanging low overhead, shadowing the plain.

The color of rain seeps under the skin;

My mood wrapped in its enshrouding curtain.

The day proceeds in this atmosphere grim,

A day for missing, losing, doubting, nothing certain.

The rain everywhere in the trees, dripping from leaves,

The stones shining and wet as if dripping tears.

The landscape seems forlorn, even the sky grieves,

The color of rain everywhere, reflecting our fears.

So much of the world likes under the cover of night,

But not here, the grey skies still offer daylight.

Other days reflect the blue of heavenly skies,

But today, the sky overhead reflects the color of rain.

INDEED OUR MOODS INFLUENCE THE WAY WE SEE LIFE AND THAT INCLUDES THE COLOR OF RAIN. I WOULD GUESS THAT A YOUNG COUPLE IN LOVE WALKING IN THE RAINS VIEW THE DROPS AS WARM AND BEAUTIFUL COLORS...CELEBRATING THEM. BUT THE HURTING, FOR WHAT EVER THE REASON...SEES RAIN AS A GRAY COVERING THAT HIDE THEIR TEARS. LOVED THIS SHARING, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

It has been my experience that rain has many moods. Sometimes, it is gentle and soft. Other times, it can be forceful, even vicious. The gloom sets in, I think, when the skies promise rain, with low and leaden clouds, but don't deliver. Especially if it goes on for days.

There is something so soothing about connecting with the rain at times, although I felt this way before, I remember both the days of comfort and rain and the days of deep sadness, either one belongs to us, trying to speak to us through crystal clear rain. Have a beautiful day and may it bring you comfort today, in knowing the rain caresses you, at your deepest sadness. Much love :)
