-- My Search For Mystery --
By John Herlihy
My poems are always personal,
Even if they are not always true .
I seek to understand the universal,
All wondrous things I ever knew.
They lie there silent in a deep well,
Ready to spring forth by magic spell.
A thought from a smoldering ember,
A sad emotion I begin to remember.
The whirr of wings from a butterfly,
The midnight lantern seen in a firefly.
The fish finds depth in water shallow,
A music of the spheres echoes mellow.
Read these poems as a fragment of me,
But I leave behind a search for mystery.
