-- Discovery -- John Herlihy Through unkindness, I will discover the rough edge of myself. Through kindness, I will discover the smooth edge of myself. Through impatience, I will discover lack of foresight in myself. Through patience, I will discover hidden reserves in myself. Through intolerance, I will discover the ignorance within myself. Through tolerance, I will discover the wisdom within myself. Through uncertainty, I will discover the vagueness of myself. Through certainty, I will discover the surety of myself. Through fear, I will discover the weakness in myself. Through courage, I will discover the strength in myself. Through hate, I will discover the lie of myself. Another beautiful poem illustrating opposites of behavior. We all know which is right and which is wrong, but we often, through ignorance on our part, fall into the bad side. Thanks for reminding me of my foibles and how I can make them better.

This is a beautiful poem worth keeping handy and always reconsidering. Yes, it is through the weaknesses, faults and failures in ourselves that we become acquainted with our whole self. I particularly liked "Through hate, I will discover the lie of myself." We don't like to look at that part of our selves, but it's a part that others see, so we need to take a look. Thanks for sharing your poem.
