-- Silence Sounded --
John Herlihy
How many incredible ways is silence sounded;
In no understandable way is silence bounded.
Without a beginning, silence did roam eternal,
To seep into the universe as shadow nocturnal.
The sound of silence found in nature tells a tale;
Just as howling wind speaks volumes in a gale.
Silence of the late afternoon livens a forest glen;
Silence of stars tells what the universe has been.
The silence of mountain peaks makes hearts sigh;
As imperious clouds brush past them high on high.
Fragile buds open as blooms never uttering a peep;
Stillness of the praying mantis will make you weep.
We long for silence in places where noise has been;
We seek the abiding silence that peace might lend.
Ocean waves belie the silence of the sea’s fathoms;
Mountains whisper mystery thru gorges and chasms.
Silence recalls the moment the universe was born;
God broke silence with a word, the universe to adorn.
Never forget the sacred silence of God to astound;
In listening to silence, you will enter realms profound.

Did you know that without an atmosphere like our air, we cannot hear even the loudest sound in sight, perhaps watching a volcano erupt on Mars. But that little helicopter just proved that there is enough atmosphere helicopter blades to catch the thin air and fly.

to contemplate...
Diana...
But few dare to define silence
You just did. And so well.
