Although I may be stretching your meaning, I find myself viewing an inner self, rather than an outer world of happenings. Many a time similar thoughts have carried me to the dark and the waters, both rapids, and the still murkiness of flotsam. Yet, in my similar trip, I managed to always find the light, often in the past, just an overhead lightbulb I chose to pull the chain to bring me out of reverie and into the world I was still alive in. Anyway, I digress. Your images and timeline of experience are well worded and will mean different things to different people, I'm sure. It's all good.
