-- Small Perfections -- John Herlihy In place of rejections Arrive small perfections. An empty loneliness Turned into a brimming solitude. A gnawing uncertainty Turned into a pure certitude. Forgotten sorrows Turned into new-found delights. A moonless landscape Turned into star-filled nights. A despairing poverty Turned into unexpected wealth. A reward well-earned Not achieved by stealth. A valued honesty Freed from all guile. An ugly frown Turned into an engaging smile.
