-- A Fine Line --

John Herlihy

A fine line lies between opposites;

Cross the line and you will know.

As fine as the trek of planetary obits;

A wrong stich destroys what we sew.

The fine line between love and hate;

A hair’s breath may be all it requires.

One as a feather, the other a weight;

Hate drags us down, while love inspires.

The fine line of ignorance and knowledge;

One wrong step leads across the divide.

What life teaches vs that learned in college,

Only to find oneself on the wrong side.

A fine line between honesty and lies,

A tightrope to walk without falling low.

Honesty we love and dishonesty despise

Lies we recognize, truth we never know

A fine line between patience and haste;

Haste eyes the clock, patience eternal.

To wait for hours may seem like a waste,

Ageless wisdom that passes hours vernal.

We could go on, but I have made my point;

A fine line, indeed, does opposites anoint.

Beware lest the fine line may turn invisible,

Making all opposites a great lie indivisible.

WHAT SOUND ADVICE...THE LINE THAT SEPARATES GOOD AND EVIL, FOR INSTANCE, CAN BE CROSSED WITHOUT THE INDIVIDUAL REALIZING IT AT ALL. ENJOYED. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

A discerning write John that could unfold ad infinitum. The line between stubbornness and stupidity, intensity and lunacy, challenging yourself and overwhelming yourself, deliberate intention and coincidence, vengeance and justice, beauty and peril, Truth and fiction, or one everyone's heard, genius and insanity. Indeed, I imagine a discerning mind can see lines everywhere. r

You're so right about those lines. Particularly when it comes to words or even physical barriers. Crossover and you may be on the wrong side. And even getting close to some lines can be life-threatening.
