-- No Need for Farewell --
John Herlihy
With no farewell spoken,
No farewell needs to unfold.
No farewell to betoken,
What needs never be told.
We make too much of goodbyes,
Too much sadness in a word.
The wind utters more than sighs,
A song lingers more than the bird.
Hear faint whispers in the wind,
Of so long and until then.
Memories on the heart pinned,
All that happened where and when.
You need to move on,
You need to let go.
Rediscover the road you trod upon,
Re-value what you already know.
I never did say goodbye,
Never felt the need to sigh.
Let the memories return at will,
There in the heart, love still.

Love ya!

You reminded me of my four days with Talha Siddique when I stayed in his home in Karachi. Although we were on opposite sides of the planet, we hit it off right away and I marveled when he pulled over his car to pick some dead plants for a dry arrangement. Something that I had done as well. I bought him a brass vase in the market for him to put the arrangement in.
Fifteen years later, he came to Illinois to visit relatives and gave me a call. We picked up our conversation like I had never left his home. We never said goodbye.

And just what I needed to hear today…
Thank you…
