Blessed be the noble hyacinth macaw,
The most beautiful bird that I ever saw.
Wings tucked without a feather askew,
The color of the sea, deep blue on blue.
The eyes encircled with traces of yellow,
Mouth similarly enframed, such a fellow.
Even-tempered and calm, never defiant,
The macaw is known as the gentle giant.
Its home found in tree nooks or cliff face,
In flight a splash of blue, marked by grace.
All creatures rely on God’s purveyance,
This bird seeks nuts for its sustenance.
In danger from habitat loss in the wild,
May the Lord protect this bird beguiled.

But the multicolored macaw is a good close second. When I was in Cozumel at the National Park by the dolphin experience, a fellow came up to me with one of those gentle, multicolored macaws and asked me if I would like "a kiss.?" Always adventurous, I complied. That bird gave me a rather dry, tongue kiss! It's a wonder I didn't get the bird flu!
