We don’t know everything,

And that’s why we have faith.

If we did know everything,

There would be no need for faith.

Plenty of things I don’t know,

Some I don’t even care to know.

Some things I would like to know,

That couldn’t be known without faith.

Faith brings its own kind of knowing,

Entry into another world not unknown.

What we learn there reinforces believing,

The unknown coming to be known.

Like distant stars in the firmament,

These tiny specks of light shine large.

Or a butterfly that flies into the mind,

The breath of its wings whispering soft.

Faith makes the unseen accessible,

Like patiently waiting to be kissed.

Faith makes life’s mysteries relatable,

Touched by knowledge that is blessed.

The twilight seems ever so large,

Yet small enough to enter our hearts.

A drop in the ocean seems oh so little,

A small thing with so much to impart.

Some unknown things we come to know,

What we will earn today and tomorrow.

Some things we will never come to know,

The place of our death in a life on borrow.
