-- Words –

Words
They don’t really belong to us
We only borrow them a while
They possess us, not we them
Words
Living vibrantly in rhythmic sound
Fueled by the breath of the spirit
Bursting balloons alive when heard
Words
Distinctive, enriched by meaning
Flooding forth as drops in a river
Flowing through ears into hearts
Words
Before words uttered, the tongue
Dipped into the inkwell of the mind
The tree sings as wind rustles leaves
Words
Ancient barques on oceans of silence
Breathe in spirit to breathe out sound
Freed from hiding to break the silence
Words
Notes on the scale of communication
Melodies sewn in the loom of language
The names of things revealed to the world
Words
Live and then die in a single breath
A beginning and end wrapped in one
Invoke the bluebell and the spirit leaps
Words
Wondrous talismans of the mind
Rise over the horizon of silence
Their meaning as stars that shine
Words
Uncertainties not yet understood
Songs and poems not yet written
Truth and beauty yet to be born
Words
Unending worlds within a world
They lie patiently, gleaming shields
Waiting to be released as sound
Words
Beware that we misuse them
They will begin to lose meaning
Where would we be without them
Words
Age worn tapestries of thought
Drained of their sweet nectar
Now threadbare of true meaning
Words
Let us give back their true selves
An act of generosity we must afford
Without losing the best of ourselves
Words
Suspense, surprise, beatitude, beauty
Spirit of the word sounded as mystery
Gateways of belonging, gifts of meaning
