Most journeys lead to destinations known,

Life journeys lead to destinations unknown.

Journeys that plunge into the heart of mystery,

Journeys that lead us into the realm of eternity.

The known journey an anxious one to get there,

The unknown journey only for those who dare.

To sail a vast ocean, its horizon a limitless end,

Far into the beyond, no further need to pretend.

This journey with milestones set along the way,

Breadcrumbs that prevent us from going astray.

Childhood, adolescence, maturity, and old age,

Pathways of growth as markers on life’s stage.

I am told we come from God, to Him we return,

Beloved Creator for whom we instinctively yearn.

With months and years passing, an emptiness filled,

As we near the destination, our anxieties are stilled.

Some take pride in knowledge, treasure the known.

Others take pride in humility, welcome the unknown.

Some boast of faith in a final resolution that is unclear.

Others rely on faith in a final resolution that is clear.

First, we follow a course thru the braille of instinct,

We know not that journey’s end leads to the brink.

A distant horizon beyond which our souls will plunge,

The horizon within ourselves our illusions to expunge.

Later, we gather lessons that we learn along the way,

Mistakes never made twice once they had their say.

We journey ever onwards, forever in forward motion,

Ever searching, ever seeking, with a heart in devotion.

We rush thru life, but at the end we patiently wait,

Until thru the mist we see a sun door serving as gate.

Of course, at journey’s end, the destination now known,

Revealed to the soul, in threads of darkness or light sewn.
