-- What Is the Good of Things -- John Herlihy What is the good of knowing If we never try to remember? What is the good of seeds planting During the harvest of September? What is the good of talking If we have nothing at all to say? What is the good of prayer If we have no desire to pray? What is the good of dreaming If our dreams never come true ? What is the good of hoping If our hopes with the wind blew? What is the good of striving If our efforts come to nothing? What is the good of conniving If our evils come to something? What is the good of wishing If all our wishes turn pale? What is the good of searching If our search finds no trail? What is the good of promising If our promises we never keep? What is the good of our saddening If our eyes are unable to weep? What is the good of fighting If the battle we never win? What is the good of surrendering If we are just thrown into a bin? What is the good of planning things If their arrival never comes? What is the good of doing things If our hands are all thumbs? What is the good of deceiving If deceptions tie us in a knot? What is the good of believing If our beliefs come to not? We are told certain things good, Without knowing the good of them. In the end, let us knock on wood, An adage to serve as abiding gem. Behold the fortune that good brings, Something as simple as a loving hug. Ahhh!... but what is the point of living if we won't try anything? I think for as long as one lives one would strive to do everything to achieve anything.

What is the good of living, if we don't pursue what you suggest? If we don't try, even if we don't succeed, life would be pretty worthless. You make, once again, some great wisdom in your poetry. The ladybug is quite a remarkable creature. But what of the poor aphid?
