-- Inside Reality --
John Herlihy
To defy the reality, I humbly implore,
To split open all life’s mysteries wide.
Whispered secrets gathered in store,
Inner reality revealed, nothing to hide.
To cut thru nature to its inner core,
To appreciate what its mysteries confide.
Ride ocean waves till they meet shore,
To lift nature’s veil, its visions to abide.
To ride the breath of wind to inhale,
The fresh richness of the earth’s air.
To absorb vital energy, then exhale,
To breathe in, breathe out a prayer.
To slice in segments waves of light,
To cast rainbows in cloudy weather.
Gather shadows in darkness of night,
Give bird wings lift, feather by feather.
Transcend hardship in labor and toil,
From the bud to bloom in earth’s soil.
To wander the halls of a spider’s web,
Fragile, in its weakness strength instead.
To ride the back of a roaming turtle,
To crawl into the cone of a seashell.
To gaze upon the open face of myrtle,
Hope in what our tomorrows foretell.
Heaven and earth as our final witness,
On the horizon as it beckons beyond.
Earthly joy but prelude to divine bliss,
Nature’s glory touched by magic wand.

You take me places where I’ve never dreamed I’d travel—mysteries and beauties unknown.
