-- All of Nature Calling --

John Herlihy

All of nature calling,

The cries of panoramic vistas heard.

Beauty into hearts falling,

Emotions long ago felt newly stirred.

Each of the seasons calling,

Warmth of summer, chill of winter.

Change into hearts falling,

Summer as caress, winter as redress.

The vast oceans calling,

The swell of waves seeking their shore.

Depths into hearts falling,

Into our well the sight of its waters pour.

The primeval forest calling,

Slanted rays of light fall from stained-glass sky.

Sunlight into hearts falling,

As whispered winds utter a subtle cry.

The majestic mountains calling,

Stability and strength found in sleeping repose.

Serenity into hearts falling,

As eternal snows on their peaks froze.

.

The rushing rivers calling,

As they make their way to the sea.

Sweet murmurs into hearts falling,

They wait for nothing, respond to no plea.

The North Wind calling,

Secrets in whispers, strength in roars.

Sounding breath into hearts falling,

As spirit in the human breast soars.

Elegant animals calling,

Peacocks, swans, loons give unique voice.

Plaintive cries in hearts falling,

In their manner of speaking, we rejoice.

The burgeoning day calling,

First light does the horizon surround.

Dawn into our hearts falling,

Bringing awakening life most profound.

The eternal night calling,

Twilight salutes as the light of day disappears.

Darkness into hearts falling,

Reminding humanity of their unknown fears.

Nothing in nature withholds its call,

Silence not audible, but certainly heard.

Eternal mysteries into hearts fall,

Of sacred sentiments forever stirred.

Once again, you have taken or subject like the variety of nature and wrung every nuance from it. But I find it almost melancholy to call it "into hearts falling." Whenever I am in nature. Away from the sounds of human activity, I feel much more alive. My heart and soul is elevated by every little twitter of bird, drop of rain, ray of sunlight, the color green and the ripple of water over pebbles in the brook. But I go on the hunt, the predator that I am. To find my next meal from what nature has to offer me.

Your words show how for every action there is a reaction. Your words are tastefully written. Your writing is amazing in that you "keep it all together," John!! Rock on!

Love ya!

So challenging to the average person this array of human avoidance. So many around us see not any of this, let alone be impacted by such consciousness. Sad. Your last stanza is so telling:

Nothing in nature withholds its call,

Silence not audible, but certainly heard.

Eternal mysteries into hearts fall,

Of sacred sentiments forever stirred.

Beautiful rendering of the depth of such simple appreciations ignored.
