Some people don’t like being caught off guard,

Being surprised makes them feel like a retard.

People prefer the feeling of being in the know,

To wake up in the morning always ready to go.

Asked a question you haven’t the faintest clue,

Wishing something said when the wind blew.

A well-considered plan that goes off the rails,

A heavily-weighted issue that tips the scales.

Pretending to be strong when you are weak,

Your rose-tinted glasses reveal a vision bleak.

Yet lowering your guard can open a window,

Storm clouds break apart to reveal a rainbow.

Sometimes a card deck conceals a trump card,

Making it worth your while to lower your guard.
