-- Nothing I Love More --
by John Herlihy
Nothing I love more than an eternal mystery,
Set out in plain language for everyone to see.
Who wonders not at the intrigue of a stranger,
An unknown person offers an element of danger.
A question of life’s purpose with no clear answer,
We stalk our way through life as a night panther.
We wonder how and why the universe was born,
How the continuum of time out of eternity torn.
And what of eternity itself, the notion of forever,
Are we to have this one little life, eternity never.
Enough perhaps to know these mysteries exist,
The questioning mind probes and will ever persist.
Happy days when there is still something to know,
Sad would be days with nothing more still to know.

I have given up the infinite to the philosophers, scientists and astronomers to solve while I focus on the practical reality of guiding the present into a more friendly and peaceful future.
