-- Dreams Have No Shame --

by John Herlihy

Dreams have no shame,

Nothing happens as true .

Do things with no blame,

As though we never knew.

Dreams have no time,

No minutes, no hours.

Even seconds not mine,

Only a sense of powers.

Dreams have no reality,

Nothing happens as real.

What happens a mystery,

As if emotions to steal.

Dreams no sense of wrong,

We take no responsibility.

Dreams sing their own song,

Mind with no accountability.

Dreams feel as adventure,

The astral soul in flight.

Journey with no censure,

Roaming freely the night.

Dreams are transitory,

Like elephants passing through.

They arrive in all their glory,

Then disappear as wind blew.

Dreams are but brief,

A time frame all their own.

Lost, searching, finding relief,

Of shadows and light sewn.

Dreams occupy our slumber,

Fill the emptiness of the night.

Without a fixed number,

Cold hearts, blinding sight.

Dreams bid us hello,

They greet us unaware.

Dreams bid us good night,

Then disappear into thin air.

DAY DREAMS WE CONTROL. THEY FLOAT IN AND OUT AND WHERE THEY GO, WE KNOW AND WE CAN STOP THEM WHEN WE WANT. BUT NIGHT DREAMS...GO WHERE THEY WANT TO AND INDEED HAVE NO SHAME. I HAVE WOKEN AND BEEN SO VERY GLAD AND RELIEVED, THANKING GOD OVER AND OVER AGAIN... THAT WHAT I THOUGHT WAS REAL, WAS ONLY A DREAM. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS.

This account of dreams encompasses much of subconscious, bookended well with the first and last stanzas. I really like the flourish of the last stanza, . . . T”hen disappear into thin air.” Very enjoyable read, John. ~~ djl

All the above and I might add, my dreams are so lucid that I often record their essence in my bedside notebook and convert to poems at a later date. Yes... at times, dreams tell reality to listen.
