Time has no senses

Perpetual, relentless

It builds no fences

Considered boundless

Time has no sight

The past, the future -- blind

There in darkness and light

Neither merciful, nor kind

Time has no smell

Running forward on little feet

Ancient histories to tell

Todays’ future to meet

Time has no taste

Seconds to minutes measured

Always on time, never in haste

Minutes to hours treasured

Time has no sound

As quiet as panther paws

Ever silent, ever profound

Ever following ancient laws

Time hears nothing

The clock hears not its tick

Time listens to everything

As flame burns on its wick

Time beats as a heart

As rhythmic as a metronome

On its journey ready to depart

Under the blue celestial dome

Time has no end

Lost in the folds of eternity

Only we otherwise pretend

Adrift in layers of mystery
