-- Thanksgiving --

John Herlihy

Blessings of which we have no control,

A day to play in our lives a special role.

Anticipation that brings us fully awake,

The day trails autumn light in its wake.

A day when we set aside any despair,

A day that moves forward as a prayer.

The pumpkin’s face glows an inner fire,

The harvest do feelings of hope inspire.

In life, we have much to be thankful for,

Satisfied what we have, no need for more.

A succulent bird with all the trimmings,

To be content in this day of new beginnings.

By evening, the pumpkin eyes flicker and fade,

The day will soon end, as we into darkness wade.

This day to kneel in thanks as we know we must,

In God and His blessings do we put our trust.

SO BEAUTIFUL THIS DAY THAT ROLLS OUT THE YULE-TIDE CARPET, WHICH WILL TOUCH HEARTS IN A MOST PROFOUND WAY, PREPARING THE SOUL AND MIND FOR MORE MOMENTS OF REMEMBRANCE ...EVEN IS JUST FOR A SHORT TIME. ENJOYED, VERY MUCH! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

All that Thanksgiving should be for everyone.

Unfortunately, I just saw an article that Thanksgiving is the most decisive for families who get together. Fortunately, it wasn't that way with my family. We would visit an aunt and uncle one year and then another an uncle would come to our house the next. Lots of fun times with cousins and too much food to eat as we spend a lot of time outdoors in the autumn bounty, just running off the food.

Beautifully composed and touching on points often overlooked by many on this day... and any other day, it would seem. This reminded me of a quotation I use often that seems applicable to share here: "The wealthiest person is not the one with the most, but the one who needs the least." Socrates. Wishing you a thankful day on this Thanksgiving. Namaste.

John, this is a beautiful reflection of a thankful heat. Enjoyed.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
