 -- Everything I Ever Wanted --

by John Herlihy

My life is everything that I have ever wanted,

Still a moody indulgence of thoughts taunted.

Measured growth in a career with nothing amiss,

Blush of an enduring love, now gone that I miss.

Never wanted fame, but accomplishment feels right,

Fulfillment in what I’ve done offers me no slight.

Love that forever lasts with the loved one now gone,

The song, once a duet, now sung alone in the dawn.

Wherever life may lead us, there we must finally go,

The tapestry on the walls of my life I myself did sew.

Yet no person can claim they truly have everything,

Any more than imagining we can live truly as a king.

Happy the day we can be happy even with nothing,

Then we will not need to boast of having everything.

OUR 'VALUES' DIFFER SO...ON THIS PLANET. CONTENTMENT AND SATISFACTION BEING FOUND IN PLACES AND THINGS THAT ARE SEEPED IN 'SEEMINGLY' NOTHING, YET HOW SATISFIED ARE THOSE THAT DWELL IN IT IS. AND THEN, THERE IS VISA-VERSA...THOSE 'SEEMINGLY' TO HAVE EVERYTHING, ARE SO UNHAPPY TO THE PLACE OF TAKING THEIR OWN LIVES. SO WHAT IS THE ANSWER? GOD. FOR IN HIM IS FOUND THE TRUE TREASURES(JOY/PEACE) OF LIFE. THIS IS NOT AN EASY THING TO ACCEPT OR INDEED TO LEARN(PHIL 4:11-13), BUT IT IS SO TRUE! ENJOYED THIS FINE WORK, JOHN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+ INSPIRATIONS.
