-- Knowing and Not Knowing -- by John Herlihy Knowing Not knowing That is the question We know We don’t know We come to know We never know Knowing a gift Unknowing a desire We know too little We know too much Why do we know Why don’t we know How do we know How don’t we know We enjoy knowing We dislike not knowing We take pause in the known We seek the unknown We think we know We think we don’t know Believing a key to knowing Disbelieving a lock to knowing That’s about all I’ve known That’s about all I’ve had to know Up until now, that’s been enough Whenever will we more know When will we need more to know - - - - - Copyright © John Herlihy Sunday 3 November 2024

WHATEVER GOD WANTS US TO KNOW...WE WILL KNOW ON THIS SIDE. WHATEVER HE DOES NOT WANT US TO KNOW, WILL REMAIN A MYSTERY TO US ON THIS SIDE. THUS, FOR CERTAIN...ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED ON THE 'OTHER SIDE'. UNTIL THEN, WE CAN EITHER REST IN THE COMFORT OF 'KNOWING' THIS PEACE... OR TORMENT OURSELVES WITH 'NOT KNOWING' THIS PEACE. This piece rejoices in its conundrum of known and unknown as values which deserve equal respect. I especially liked the phrase below.

We enjoy knowing

We dislike not knowing

We take pause in the known

We seek the unknown

Always growing, but never really knowing. It's something I've come to know, and reluctantly accept, (over the years) that the more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know. I've made peace with it though. And, despite all, I'm still hungry to learn. Thanks John. Good images in this to support your premise. Related. Peace.... rlc
