-- Never Come Back Again --
by John Herlihy
I want to have just one last chance,
To right a wrong and make amends.
I want to believe and take a stance,
Not to be anyone who just pretends.
I want to gaze at the far distant stars,
Paving their way beyond earth’s hem.
I want to memorize all my memories,
Enjoy comfort in remembering them.
To hold in hand a solitary white rose,
Whose heavenly scent fills my nose.
I want to feel the caress of a breeze,
On my breath, my ears, feeling ease.
I want to say goodbye to my friend,
To put into words this sense of end.
Value life’s moments, never pretend,
Knowing they will never come again.
