-- DREAMS WE KNEW -- John Herlihy Are dreams realities we never knew, Never to happen, never to come true ? Are dreams really a thing only to let go, Never a possibility we would ever know? Are our dreams only there us to motivate, Never in our lives a reality to substantiate? Are dreams nothing more than cruel myth, Like toy baubles that a child may play with? Are dreams just pretending of a different life, A dream to happen in another person’s life? Do our dreams just linger long enough to last, Before they disappear in the mist of our past? Why do we ever expect dreams to come true , If they did, they wouldn’t be dreams we knew?

WELL...'OUR DREAMS' ARE JUST THAT, 'OURS'. BUT WHAT OF 'GOD'S PLANS' FOR US? SOMETIMES OUR DREAMS AND GOD'S PLANS COINCIDE AND WE SEE THE FRUITION OF THEM, HOWEVER, A GREAT DEAL OF THE TIME 'OUR DREAMS' AND 'GOD'S PLANS'...DON'T JIBE. HOPEFULLY, EVENTUALLY, WE ALLOW GOD TO HAVE HIS WAY, WHEREBY OUR DREAMS MELT...INTO GOD'S PERFECT WILL FOR OUR LIVES. ALBEIT, THE 'DREAMS WE KNEW'... WILLINGLY... BECOME A PART OF ONES... Yes, dreams sure are a mystery. I view them as rearranging and sorting our daily experiences to see whether they will be going into short term or long-term memory.

I recall when I was working, sometimes I would have a vexing problem to solve, and dream it all night. There were times when I came up with a solution in my dream. And there were times when that solution worked or it didn't.

Now, I look at my dreams as entertainment. Taking me through longer periods of sleep. And if they are good enough and I'm capable enough I turned them into a short story. Remarkably, only the erotic ones get much attention.

Yes, you speak for many of us. Dreams have been the subject of numerous studies, but, as you iterated here, there are multiple answers, with no one study result accepted as rule. Thanks for posting..
