Listening to the Sound of My Voice

by John Herlihy

In the heart of sorrow

Lies the remnants of love lost.

In the heart of happiness

Displays a price we pay at cost.

In the depths of despair

A crack of light in this dark night.

In the whispers of prayer

Lies premonitions in rays of moonlight.

In the wake of the past

Heard the echoes of sweet memory.

In the mirage of the future

Hear the faint promise of a mystery.

In the rush of desires

Lies the wish that they be fulfilled.

In the shadow of our fear

The anxious heart wishes to be stilled.

In the dawn of the day

The hours of darkness finally slayed.

In the twilight of the day

The results of our effort will be weighed.

In the silence of myself

Listening to the sound of my voice.

In the spirit of the soul

The makings of love, bliss, peace – rejoice.

A fine piece of writing that extols the meandering path our lives take as we try to fulfill the journey to a resultant and hopefully, satisfying end. Again, we seem to be synergized with similar considerations in our quest for further understanding of why Peggy Lee sang it, "Is That all There Is?" I chose "Zero to Zero" for my exploration, posting soon. Thank you for this elegant treatise of life's evolvement that is so on the money.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.

Still Living on my Feet by Tichaona Chinyelu

Still Living on my Feet is the follow up to Tichaona Chinyelu’s first book, In the Whirlwind, which was rooted in a sense of hard-hitting revolutionary black love. However, in this sophomore effort, Tichaona brings the revolutionary essence from deep
