So Many Certainties
by John Herlihy
We live within the folds of so many mysteries,
So many uncertainties amid so many certainties.
The fact is we don't know how things will end,
Then again, we don't know how things will begin.
Even things that happened that are in between,
Faced with so many things not what they seem.
We go through life with so many unknowns,
So many challenges that are not home grown.
How can so many uncertainties feel so certain,
How can so many mysteries feel as such a burden.
Yet some mysteries unfold as buds that bloom,
Whether this happens or not, we must never assume.
All the certain uncertainties that make us feel rich,
Weaving themselves into our destiny stitch by stitch.
The tapestry of our lives comes to an end in perfection,
There in the divine mirror we will see our reflection.

The English language is almost certain to reach almost everyone in the world. And mathematics is nearly universal for communicating mathematical concepts of certainty and uncertainty.
