Life As Story by John Herlihy Every life is a story Every story is a struggle Every struggle brings hardship Hardship that manifests as a fight A fight against sickness and pain, A fight against poverty and despair Every despair opens a closed gate Every gate leads down a pathway A new pathway into the unknown The unknown thrives in darkness The darkness reveals mysteries Mysteries surrender a little light Light shines upon certain truths Truths that speak of true reality True reality as a basis of belief Belief that binds us to the truth The truth of unity, of the One - - - - - Copyright © John Herlihy Saturday 18 October 2025

Beautifully structured and a thread that leads through to the end. However, belief generally refers to something that is unproven rather than the ethereal, "True reality."

I found this poem rather dark, even cautionary. Perhaps that's why I don't see an urn but rather a coffin in its shaping.

The urn shape of this fine piece of word-relay is such a compliment to the poem's value. Yes... the ONE is what it's all about. If only more would give that focus to their daily behavior, they would quickly find that they are them, them are they. Yin and Yang, the inseparable paradox of life. Well done, John.
