Inner Beauty
In the lost world of the mind
When the map of life had fled
She walked with a proud dignity
Despite the chaos in her head
Awareness of time and place
Gone - as the daytime light
She had to meet each moment
From the darkness of her night
Her courage she showed quietly
Making neither fuss nor noise
Facing each day as it came
Accepting - she had no choice
Unfettered by beliefs and worries
That caused her need to strife
Illness did not diminish her
In the twilight of this life
No point to question a purpose
All we knew is what had been
But the silver lining to the cloud
Her gentle, inner self was seen
Uncertain future we must meet
As we walk this earth’s vast store
A beauty shone out from within
When her reason was no more
