If life has got you down and out

And you’ve forgotten how to smile

Pause in your hectic fast paced world

And watch a mother’s love of child

There is nothing more spectacular

There is nothing more sublime

Then gazing at the miracle of birth

Through a mother’s love divine

I’ve watched in awe and admiration

As tiny sparrows emerged from their shells

And their loving mother’s eyes were sparkling

As her tiny feathered chest began to swell

I’ve observed a diligent mother osprey

Exhaustedly fishing from dawn to dusk

To nourish her ravenous newborn babies

Because in her heart she knew she must

And I’ve sat completely mesmerized for hours

Watching felines tend their helpless kittens

Their love for their offspring is so absolute

That by their devotion I’m always smitten

These mothers hardly ever rest or eat

Their children are their only thought

As they pull and tug on their exhausted bodies

No assistance or relief have they ever sought

They never scold or snarl at them

They only pamper coo and purr

They comfort them 24 hours a day

And from their nurturing never stir

Whether their numerous babies are born in a castle

Or in a tiny nest they’ve diligently made a home

Or in a dark back alley garbage dumpster

From their duties they seldom ever roam

A mother’s love is truly miraculous

And observing it much joy can bring

It’s another reason I love this time of year

A mother’s love truly blossoms every Spring
