Almost

I'm almost gone

I'm nearly home

Much closer now

A bright forever.

Too much

for any to see,

Too much

For even me.

No one knows

No, not one,

For darkness grows.

Can't take it

Any more,

With all my dreams

Locked strong behind

Providences door.

I feel no shame,

For there is none

In which to name.

So rest sound

As I come

To end unbound.

Freed from toil and snare,

Cast unto mercy

For mercy to bare.

Soft now the hush

Beneath darkness touch.

Sweet now the taste,

Unto the last hours of grace.

Oh almost gone…

Almost home.

Almost…….

your sentiments are expressed quite effectively ... many of us are almost home ... it is a universal truism ...
