Ten Thousand Miles From Home
Ten thousand miles from home oh Lord,
Oh ten thousand miles away from you have I roamed.
You see Lord; I have traveled this road in darkness alone
For in my treachery, I surrendered my only friend.
So Lord hear me now if you will, for I weary of this journey
and I wonder in my own stark silence when it shall truly end.
For this my path has grown thick with vipers
and my legs are bruised and weakened by sin.
Therefore it is I, which calls out into this solitary night,
only to realize that I speak against an approaching wind.
So it is as to this, and unto my certain end
That I lift up my eyes to the heavens
and look for a guiding light to direct me once again.
Yet I see nothing… nothing but black stars burning…
Stars burning black and icy hot,
Burning Lord… burning like the coals which consume my dying soul.
So I ask Lord…can you hear me?
For I am ten thousand and one miles from home….
