The Ferryman Approaches

Wretched tempest arisen from the dark abyss.

The writhing lamenting goes unto black sea adrift.

Cisterns void filled overflowing of lustful knowing.

Stargazers bow beneath Mars surreal winds lowing.

Purveyors of injustice stand solemn at the eternal gate.

They stand in waiting for the ferryman to placate.

Fouls stench rows single now across the fetid stream.

Passengers doomed pray silent for awakening from a dream.

Yet dreams cling not to this, the slippery slopes of perchance.

For consumption reclaims predestinations lurid dance.

Therefore to thee comes this, thy nocturnal woe.

The ferryman approaches; unrepentant in darkness go.

Like other reviewers have stated, this is a dark write, a good write, but philosophically (sp) I wonder if predestination really plays on the Ferryman's arrival. As someone else stated, you do 'dark' quite well.

Thanks,
Dan

so much, so well, so dark... Charon, if he has a soul?, would be stirred deeper than his brackish water by this feast of images. .. a near tribute. .and that ending of solitary confinement, a blunt force trauma of sinfulness. . .. love this; classical nuances and ebb and flow. .. your voice is depth indeed~

You do Dark very well, my friend. And your image of the Ferryman is most powerful.

the ferryman is always an interesting image to me.
i read a play by aristophanes once in which the ferryman was a part of and when we decided that acting it out would help us understand the story i was given the part of the ferryman... i couldnt work out how to portray him...

i like that you added in the stench here...
the stench of souls standing there waiting for their ride across the waters...
youve put some good thought into this piece.
