Somewhere
in a city called
Everywhere
sits a soul
remembering
telling tall tales
about a life that was.
Gathering Cronies
sharing dreams
fables of the biggest fish or
the one that got away
the greatest run
the winning score
the bat cracking homerun.
Somewhere
gathering cronies
one up one another with
tales of grandeur
secret hero worship
smoking cigars
shelling peanuts
slapping painful knees and
remembering lost dreams
those they were told
those that were peeped
and those that had faded.

I never met old cronies in my lifetime, only what I observed
from the movies. Enjoyed, Thomasena.

Always,
Deborah

You had me right there, listening in on the boasting and picking fun of one another. That's what old cronies used to do. I wonder what they're doing now?

Sometimes the cronies are old souls too. Pity the young never sit to listen to tales of old anymore. Their old souls are video games and social media. Ashiff

Ahhh . . . I can picture the cronie's corner very well, Thomasena. Somehow it reminded me of growing up where every backyard had a clothesline, and the endless sessions of backyard gossip was a thing of beauty, that is unless they were talking about you, Heh.Heh
