A poem about my preferred season, after going outside and fighting mosquitos!

Poem Artwork

                                            Even growing up

With my friends all loving the beach,

                                               I loved the winter,

                                     The slowing down, the peace.

                                          Summer brings freshness,

                                             that elevates the mood.

                                           But then comes the noise,

The fast cars, boats, and toys.

But worst of all, that critter

                                              The mosquito,

                                        And she makes me bitter.

                                         Then finally cold drives in

With an entrance made to impress

                                        Sometimes like a madman

                                               Often like a caress.

And quietens down the earth again

                                                Making all to rest.

Well penned! Not too much on winter myself but you make it seem almost palatable. One of the reasons I retired to New Orleans, I hate that cold white stuff! M.True

I still go to the beach in the winter...sometimes I grouse about the cold winds, but to be totally honest, just to b near ole Mom Ocean, that is enough for me...in any season...& I agree with mosquito complaint though they rarely bother me anymore& I am not too altogether happy with my beach being over run with people, but to get to the better time of year one has to give up the shore to the throngs...e

The wintertime is a peaceful somewhat serene time of year. I like it too. It is a romantic time of year. It seems as though people are more at peace with each other.

I only like winter when I'm warm and dry. In summer, I can be hot and wet and it's okay. Sunlight or a little breeze will help keep the mosquitoes away. In Canada, the only thing that helped was mosquito netting and heavy clothing… Or a cold front. I recall over 100 mosquito bites on the back of one hand.

I am definitely with you on the side of cold weather. I never was a beach person. It can be fun, but still I never much cared for it. The skeeters? Vampires!
