Shame firaq ab na poochh, translated into English

The evening we parted finally came,

It came and it even went away.

The heart, the sturdy thing it was, managed to start beating again

Life being resilient as it was, found ways to exist again.

When I remembered you thereon

The morning picked up your scent.

When I awakened your thoughts

The night got more and more forlorn.

The heart, the sturdy thing it was, managed to start beating again

Life being resilient as it was, found ways to exist again.

Subsisting quietly near your thoughts

The candle of your beauty came on.

The painful moon drowned itself

The night of separation pulled along.

The heart, the sturdy thing it was, managed to start beating again

Life being resilient as it was, found ways to exist again.

I had finalized all matters of my heart

Before I left to confront her.

But in presenting my arguments,

They seemed to lose all their contents.

The heart, the sturdy thing it was, managed to start beating again

Life being resilient as it was, found ways to exist again.

Lastly, the companion of the night,

Faiz, God knows what became of him.

Where the morning breeze got lost,

And which way the morning thinned out dim.

The heart, the sturdy thing it was, managed to start beating again

Life being resilient as it was, found ways to exist again.

The evening we parted finally came,

It came and it even went away.

The heart, the sturdy thing it was, managed to start beating again

Life being resilient as it was, found ways to exist again.
