The voices from the dead have come to me at times

 Those Voices

When the voices of people long dead are heard
And their memories come to the ear,
I wonder who calls
Who rises who falls?
And my mind is filled with fear.

The mind then returns to fences and ferns.
The soul then looks out for knowledge.
I keep quite alone,
Nor cheer nor mourn.
Need food for the soul, not porridge.

When something ominous is on the way,
The soul begins to feel it.
I open my eyes
For then it seems wise
To find out which man will now be hit?

When the dead return, there is something to learn,
Their signals must be taken, gravely.
For coming to Earth
So long after birth.
Should be faced with gravity bravely.

When a son is forlorn, the mother returns
His pain only she can feel.
Though dead and gone
Her switches are on
She will come with medicines that will heal.
