Living In The South

I am living in the South,
most of the time anyway.
My body beat me to it though.
I used to have the best boobs!
They looked store bought
All my boyfriends wanted pictures of them
People would ask if they were real,
They’d come for miles around to take a gander at em’,
“Yep, them are nice.” They would say.
But then they started going south,
so the rest of me followed.

Guys used to flirt with me,
said I had a cute ass.
Then one day they started calling
me “Ma’m”
And I said, “Are you talking to me?”
I looked around behind me
They looked past me
I caught my reflection in a mirror
at Home Depot the other day
God no, my butt has migrated south too?!

So I live in the south
with the rest of my body
or what’s left of it anyway.
All my muscles heading south,
cept’ the one between my ears
The one that keeps this once
Young Yankee thinkin’.
North vs South
I’ve been 18 for over 20 years now
Living in the South
Fighting my own civil war
with time…
