Poem Artwork

Fate dealt another blow amid

Historic spats with treachery

Where stepping stones are turned to dust

And faith and hope should ne’er be trust

While lies are used as weaponry

I fought back hard, I really did

Yet depths of much confused despair

Clasp me to their ample breast

Enforcing all their cold bequest

And crush my panic-ridden prayer

Each year my trembling morale slid

No matter how I’d grasp the light

Each fall much further than the last

Descending where all dark is cast

Thus all my days turned into night

‘Til finally my soul just hid

Repelled the glow of fake respite

And, hermit-like, it masked its face

Turned its hopes to inner space

Plunging pointlessness from sight

Your words cause me to picture someone who was bought off, something came to light, and now lives with the shame. Deep! openly so!

Love ya!

I hope this is not a true life experience. But rather a deep philosophical view of what it means to withdraw inside and no longer seek "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune."

Deep, dark, and thought-provoking!

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
