View from a Hospital Bed

Being forced to lay down, my pain

doesn't care about feelings at all,

or my plans already made,

Burst appendix makes me feel so small

Like brief pictures, life drifts by

blood work, CT scan, Morphine and I.V.

I thought I was pretty strong

laying helpless is not a sight to see

Around me are others groaning

with their own private Hell,

knee surgery, bowel problems and more,

I feel compassion for those I don't know well

I know Jesus never leaves or forsakes me

just wish He would heal us all tonight,

being set aside, re-arranged my priorities

above me, my bed is flooded with light

Another  nurse needs to check my B. pressure

so dark outside, says " try to sleep"

pain hurts me, my travelling companions too,

when she is gone I silently weep

I've found God's Grace even here

I suppose like Job I could ask why?

but suffering is part of the human race

I'm sure my Guardian Angel does sigh

In time I'll pass throught this valley

God's Word and presence still comforts me,

tho I look the same, desires have changed,

I believe God's will here shows my ministry

To re-enter the world once I'm fine

being a comforting heart to a wounded soul,

the view from a Hospital bed shows me,

be a Bridge of Love to others I know
