In the morning when I wake up;
my thoughts drift toward you, a recurring hiccup.
Always wondering just what you're doing;
putting on makeup, perhaps you're piddling.
I thank you for inspiring me to write this song;
you've always cherished music, no doubt that's lifelong.
George Straight has always been your real favorite;
you always sing along, and that's no concealed secret.
In the morning when I wake up;
it happens often, memories go giddy-up.
I may be pretending, perhaps it's just a dream;
did I really get so lucky like a drifting air stream?
Today is Monday, you're at the nail salon;
even if I only see you as an eidolon.
The cologne you gave me I still keep;
oh how I miss ya, it's just too darn deep.
If I could only turn back the hands of time;
there would be no foretime, only loving you full-time.
I'd grow my hair longer, even wear tighter-fittin' jeans;
would even take you on vacation to the Philippines.
In the morning when I wake up;
my thoughts drift toward you, a recurring hiccup.
One day I just may show up with my Indiana Jones hat;
no doubt about it, I'll stoop to kiss your doormat.
