As I went to bed it was under my pillow;
damned creepy-crawler, I really need a pet armadillo.
Brushed it off to the floor, now under the baseboard heater;
I surely wouldn't mind bunking in with a friendly anteater.
Mosquitoes and moths, they try to sneak in;
gotta keep 'em out or I'll wind up in a coffin.
Now they're marching in, those carpenter ants are sleek;
glad there are no termites, then I'd really freak.
The slugs stay outside, with that I'm very happy;
if they got in, I'd really feel quite crappy.
It's hazy, hot and humid, many spiders abound;
they may get the creepy-crawlers, I'll keep a few around.
Hornets, wasps and bees, they try to fly in;
these summer bugs, they get under my skin.
What about those gnats, those biting dipteran flies;
then there's the horsefly, persistent in the flybys.
When I go to bed I'll look under both pillows;
those creepy-crawlers can never become peccadilloes.
But there is a glimmer of thankfulness, how can that be;
absolutely no roaches, no bedbugs or flea.
