Some folks work the midnight shift;
many long years, circadian rhythm adrift.
Motor skills impaired, too much irritability;
will they ever find the populace in cordiality?
They try to sleep during the daytime hours;
the rest they need, the noise just devours.
It's always something, human activity;
now the dog is barking, sleep in declivity.
Now the chain saw makes its debut, oh no;
please be quiet, it's like a deathblow.
Who is now just knocking on the door;
please go away, there's just no cure.
Earplugs have been tried, dark curtains too;
oh the tossing and turning, some will go cuckoo.
It's time to get up, do it all over again;
only the nocturnal creatures welcome this regimen.
Some like the night shift, boss not around;
others forced on it, their turmoil quite profound.
Eventually on all it'll take its toll;
some have escaped, normalcy to stroll.
