Early on, while writing and arranging songs of my own, I ran into a song writer, John Lopo, now deceased, who wrote the lyrics to, "Good-by City Good Bye World" who believed in my stuff.

Poem Artwork

Oh John they bought your lyrics
Damn John they stole your song
Webb and his guitar swimming pool
Managed by a bunch of fools
Too bad you couldn't have just
Rented it out

You saw them turn some words around
Kept most the same your song
You claimed it to the very end
From your heart a message sent
Too bad you couldn't have just
Rented it out

But renting's not owning
But owning's not good
In some situations
Hurts more than it should

Webb sang best as he knew how
The words that you felt
Hit number one Nashville
'Made all those hearts melt

(back around somewhere)

AS I UNDERSTAND IT, THIS SORT OF PLAGIARIZING HAPPENS ALL THE TIME...TOO, TOO SAD. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

There is a mystery in the creative timing process. I have noticed that musicians, writers and artists can write on a similar subject at the same time. Almost as if all being sent inspiration from an army of muses on another dimension. Therefore, it is very important to grab that inspiration and work on it the second it comes.

On plagiarism, which is, of course, a completely different matter, there is no excuse and definitely no forgiveness.Once published online or on paper, copyright laws apply. All creation should have an electronic footstep.

This write is sad. Unfortunately, it is a topic that should be discussed more.

A GREAT WRITE!

With respect and smiles galore...

I found one of my poems on Google under an ad for vacation packages. At first, I was excited to see my words. Then I realized that the person had stolen my words for their business without asking. My words.

No one is a true "originalist" when it comes to words, or songs, or ideas, or gadgets, or things that go bump in the night. You might say that we are all drawn toward each other as we seek to find our uniquenesses. Now I forgot what I was thinking about.

All one has to do, is just give credit where credit is due. Is that asking to much?

With so many forms of plagiarism, one is not surprised to be made aware of another, a creative soul being robbed of probably his most cherished asset. Thanks for the reminder.

A mournful tale of how copyrighted work gets used and misused and sometimes, even when famous, doesn't pay off.

A new style for you, but I like it and its realism.

Don't know the writer, but Webb Pierce was a regular on the Louisiana before Nashville found him. I imagine "borrowing" of songs happens often.

People steal all kinds of things, even songs. Still the theft hurts.
