Will we survive to see a future, let alone will there be one to see...?

Survived, yes we have, missiles sixty miles south,

Survived, yes we have, civil unrest in our south,

Survived, yes we have, wars in the Far East,

Survived, yes we have, easterly cold wars,

Survived, yes we have, two world wars,

Survived, yes we have, plagues & pestilence,

Survived, we have, so much through our history…

Survived, will we, this is the future, a mystery?

Survived, will we, this current governmental body?

Survived, will we, our children seem bent on death?

Survived, will we, drugs on the street, smack & meth?

Survived, will we, crime, murder, violence & theft?

Survived, will we, terrorist acts, a faceless terror?

Kennedy, King, Churchill, Plato & Nostrdamus,

All from our past, great men, philosophers all,

What would they think of our world today?

Just wipe the slate clean, make the whole thing go away?

Start it all over, we may be headed that way,

I hope we are not, but what can one person do?

Life as we know it could be over for both me and you…

Great write Poet. I enjoyed the fact that it stirred my senses, but all I can say is, I shall not go quietly into the darkness, without a fight for what is right!

historically, civilzations come and go ... they leave their mark upon our collective psyche ... is our civliztion ending again or beginning to shift into a more enlightened state of being and we are just witnessing its transition in our lifetimes, full of turmoil, technolical advancement and political and religious transformation ...

and excellent porm brimming over with insight ...

Ed, there is so much truth in the questions you pose, and it does seem that the faceless grim stands on the corner and waits for our next move, but what can we do? For me and my house, we will serve the Lord, for me, this works. I have hope for life after life. Sometimes it is hard when one sees so much hate, turmoil and destruction...sometimes very hard to believe. But I ask myself, what do I have to lose if I am wrong about believing and then I ask, what do I have to gain if I am right for believing. Take care in all things my friend, and thanks for the most gracious comment. Peace to you too, through faith.

Outstanding write, my friend...
I agree with Eileen... We should be well
informed on who we vote for . Even then, I
wonder if the world will survive. Every day
there's more crime.
Excellent write, Ed.

Excellent write Ed! Your questions are valid! I think we too often blame leaders for everything when in fact we the people don't do enough to inform ourselves as to the agenda of each party. Many vote
a party out of habit or because their family did. Some like the looks of someone, etc. Many people have no idea what the slate of their party is. That's why in my opinion the people get what they deserve, when they don't know how to vote, and don't care enough to check out the candidate for themselves, not what others say. Also, many will complain no matter who is in office because that's what they're used to doing.
