CONTEMPLATION…

Rufuz & Kodiak contemplating a swim,

Kodiak loves the water, Rufuz thinks its only for drinking,

How can I tell, what the both are thinking?

Why, Rufuz and I have lived together for so long,

And Kodiak was a dog that loved water; he did not do any shrinking…

Eventually Kodiak did jump in, waving at Rufuz to join him,

But Rufuz was no fool; he knew if jumped in, he would sink like a stone,

Never did Rufuz have any swimming lessons, not like Kodiak, he could float prone,

So Rufuz still does not like water, baths he seems to shy away from as well,

But he doesn’t stink like some I know, only smells a bit like a dog, but oh well…

Rufuz will walk in it, up to a certain point,

But even if dad coaxes him, no way will he swim, allowing the water to him, anoint,

So, he can sit on the beach and watch daddy surf,

Or he can swim on out and ride the wave all the way in on dad’s board,

Or he can do as he always does and chases the gulls, and gets attention, never bored…
